Arrested ? But I'm not a criminal...

Of course you're not. But that doesn't mean you could never get arrested. Many people who
consider themselves law-abiding citizens get caught up in the criminal justice system in some
way - as the victims of crime, relatives of someone accused of a crime, by being falsely accused -
or even arrested for an offence they never knew existed. Anyone can make a simple mistake -
including the police.

Supposing you did actually get arrested - what then ?

Of course, you don't have to say anything...But it may harm your defence if you don't mention
(when questioned) something on which you later rely on in Court. Anything you do say may be
given in evidence. Ignorance of the law is no defence.

At a time like this we all need expert assistance. Below are the cases of four local people we've
been able to help recently - none of whom even knew they'd broken the law !

Legal Representation

All the people in the case studies are honest, hard-working members of the community. One or
more of them might even be a friend of yours. But they all broke the law.

Any of us - however honest - could theoretically fall foul of the Authorities. How many of us can
put our hand on our heart and say that we never exceed the speed limit or make an error of
judgement?

If you ever do find yourself in that position, it make senses to consult someone that you know
specialises in criminal law. We suggest that you do not seek the advice of the police or call in a
friendly career criminal to guide you. Solicitors are trained to give expert help in all the following
areas:

  • Advising at the Police Station
  • Appeals to the Crown Curt or Court of Appeal
  • Appeals to the Magistrates Court against refused/revocation of various types of Licence
  • Applications for Antisocial Behaviour Orders
  • Applications to restore driving licences
  • Bail applications
  • Breaches of Probation and Community Service Orders
  • Defence of criminal charges in the Magistrates or Crown Court
  • Enforcement of fines
  • Extradition
  • Police Property Act applications
  • Prisoners' rights
  • Road Traffic offences
  • Road transport and Passenger Carrying Services Licensing

Obviously, we hope your life will be trouble-free and that you won't become involved in any legal
action. However, if things turn out otherwise it makes sense to consult a solicitor you can trust, to
forestall any problems. That's what we're here for!
